Dr. Margarida Sobreira

She graduated in Health Sciences from the University of Lisbon in 2011 and quickly realized that she wanted a profession where she could be closer to others and care for them. She completed her degree in Physiotherapy at the Escola Superior de Saúde de Alcoitão in 2015 and her master's degree at the University of Aveiro in 2019. She updated her course in the physical treatment of oedema using the Leduc Method, organized by the Portuguese League Against Cancer in 2022.

In 2020, she became the mother of a baby girl and after some challenges at the beginning of breastfeeding, her great desire grew to support other mothers to have the most positive and painless experiences possible, allowing them to live motherhood with pleasure and lightness.

In 2022, she completed the Advanced Training in Breastfeeding at the Catholic University and began the path with supervision towards the International Certification of Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), which she will complete in 2023. In 2023, she took the course "Understanding the Baby, Supporting the Family" with therapist Constança Cordeiro Ferreira and presented the poster "Relactation, a new opportunity at the family's pace: a heartwarming case report" at the 1st International Conference held by the Portuguese Association of IBCLCs.

She met Essence through the Mommy Talks podcast during her first pregnancy and found a second home that embraces and cares for families holistically. Without forgetting that breastfeeding difficulties have an impact on the relationship between mother and baby, and take a lot of serenity out of this phase, facilitating the life of each family, transmitting confidence and valuing all potential is her main objective.
