What is Spinning BabiesⓇ?

It’s an approach created by the American midwife Gail Tully, who created techniques and exercises that help relieve discomfort during pregnancy; they help to better position the baby for birth, solving cases of pelvic or transverse babies and those in a posterior position during pregnancy.

These exercises aim to work the uterine ligaments, creating more space for the babies to turn and position themselves in the best way in the pelvis, which can promote a faster delivery.

Spinning Babies® is not about turning the baby, but about the baby’s natural rotation during birth, and how it can help you in this process.

The Spinning Babies® class for couples is specifically designed to teach parents how to know what position their baby is in, the ideal way for the baby to cross the pelvis and how parents can help.

The techniques and exercises that parents learn in this class provide comfort during pregnancy and can improve the birth experience by making it easier and quicker.

BUT MY BABY IS ALREADY UPSIDE DOWN!

Great! Half the work is done! Pelvic or transverse babies aren’t the only ones who need help getting into the best position for birth.

Find out why the position is important, factors that influence it and what you can do to help your baby be in the ideal position for birth.

What do you learn in the Spinning Babies Couples Class?

What will you learn in this 3-hour class?

♥ Basic anatomy of the pelvis and how it affects birth

♥ Essential daily exercises

♥ How to do Smart Rest and Smart Move to help with fetal positioning

How to balance your body for birth

The stages of the pelvis

Variations in work patterns. What they can mean and what you can do about them

♥ Learn to identify your baby’s position inside the womb with Belly Mapping!

♥ LOTS of practice, exercises to do during pregnancy and childbirth.

When to start?

The ideal time to start is between 25-38 weeks, but if you’re at the end, please come anyway! You’ll definitely find useful information to help with positioning the baby at the time of delivery!

It’s best to give yourself time to practice the techniques every day before the baby is born, so ideally before 41 weeks.

If you’re pregnant with twins, the Spinning Babies Class is also for you! Start as
early as you can. We recommend starting at around 16 weeks if you’re pregnant
multiple. However, ask your doctor or midwife if there are any medical reasons for not
doing the exercises – especially the inversions.

A Spinning Babies class isn’t just about doing the same exercises for all pregnant women… and that’s it!

What makes the Spinning Babies Class unique is that at the end of the class, couples will receive an Exercise Plan tailored to their situation and will be accompanied by Cristiane as the exercise plan needs to be corrected according to the baby’s changing position up to and including the moment of delivery.

The Spinning Babies class is NOT recommended for:
– Vaginal bleeding;
– Hypertension or Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (STOP),
– Recent surgery
– Glaucoma;
– Intrauterine Growth Retardation (IUGR).
