Mafalda Bravo Velez knew from an early age that her life would be dedicated to motherhood and working with children. Passionate about law and the impact it can have on each person's life, she obtained a master's degree from the Faculty of Law in Lisbon and, in collaboration with Unicef and the ILO (International Labour Organization), specialized in Children's Rights and Parental Labour Rights. A lawyer by profession, she has contributed to the study, advocacy and drafting of laws, leaving her mark in several crucial areas both nationally and internationally.
Teaching and empowering families, Mafalda finds her greatest fulfillment in putting the law at the service of children, mothers, fathers and professionals. She has a postgraduate degree in Family Mediation and conducts consultations and training, including the only training certified by the Order of Nurses in Women's Human Rights in Conception, Pregnancy, Childbirth and Postpartum. In these initiatives, she supports families in claiming their rights, promoting greater well-being in areas such as health, education and the workplace, and helping them to achieve the much-desired reconciliation between family and professional life, which is often simpler and more protected by law than it seems.
With an MBA in Social Entrepreneurship and six years working in developing countries, one of which as a volunteer, Mafalda reinforced her conviction that the road to justice, although long, is possible. She believes that with love, true solidarity and assertiveness, anything can be achieved.
Determined in the fight for rights, she understands the difficulties of realizing them, offering empathy and support. She is a true companion in the struggle, always available to give the strength and certainty needed to those who are fighting for their rights, helping them to persevere until they are realized.
For Dr. Mafalda, collaborating with Essence represents the fulfillment of a dream. The union of law and health, working together with families and professionals in a team and in a space that adopts an integrative and personalized approach to each case, is a real achievement.
